If you’re anything like me, a hot shower is one of the best parts of your day. It’s how you wash off an exhausting workday, or how you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever’s ahead. I figured showers were already about as good as they get.
Then I bought a heated towel warmer.
The shower’s warmth doesn’t end at the faucet anymore — it follows you out and stays with you. Instead of rushing to get dressed, you stand there for a second, wrapped up, in no hurry to be anywhere. It’s the kind of warmth you’d pay for at a spa, except it’s waiting for you every single morning in your own bathroom.
And in the dead of a freezing Michigan winter, when the floor is like ice and the air bites the second you pull back the curtain, a hot towel turns one of the worst parts of winter into one of the best. On those mornings it feels less like a towel and more like a small act of kindness you did for yourself.
Full transparency: the brand isn’t really the point. Most of these bucket-style warmers work the same way, and I can’t tell you this one is meaningfully better than the rest. It’s just the one sitting in my bathroom that I use and love.
How it changed my routine
It changed how I think about showering almost immediately. Now, the moment I even think about taking a shower, I go put my towel in the warmer and set it for an hour.
Here’s the part I didn’t expect: life gets in the way, and some days the shower I meant to take just… doesn’t happen. But knowing there’s a warm towel already waiting is exactly the nudge I need to get off the couch and actually turn on the water. I have never finished a shower and wished I’d skipped it. Skipping one, though? That’s the regret that catches up with you later.
How to get the most out of it
A few small things make a real difference:
- 1 Lay the towel flat against the walls. Don’t bunch it or fold it over itself — you want as much of the towel as possible touching the inside walls of the warmer. That’s what gives you the hottest, most consistent warmth from top to bottom.
- 2 Preheat if you shower fast. It doesn’t warm up instantly. If you take a long shower, dropping the towel in right before you get in is plenty. But if you’re in and out quickly, give it a head start so it’s ready when you are.
- 3 Warm more than just towels. After being out in the cold, I’ve used it to warm up a sweatshirt or sweatpants before changing into them — it’s an incredible feeling. Just double-check the fabric is safe to heat first.
The bottom line
It’s a small, one-time purchase that pays you back in comfort every single day. If a warm towel waiting after every shower sounds worth it — and after a week with one, I promise it does — it’s an easy yes.
